Why is it that the national media is ignoring the issues with Vito Fossella (the member of Congress from Staten Island who by the way is in the TV shot with Mark Foley at the Port of Miami) and how he has used campaign funds for personal use, as reported in the NY Daily News, and reprimanded and basically fined for the use of congressional mail and funds for campaigning?
Moreover, two members of his staff have spouses who own a political mailing and printing firm who do most of Fossella's work and work for others that he endorses. The chief of staff and communications director have claimed that they do no consulting or campaign work on congressional time but it seems suspect at best.
Please see http://ny13.blogspot.com/ for more information on this.
We need more people discussing how the GOP is full of these people who take advantage of loopholes in the law and are ethically challenged.
"We've lost 30 or so young men and women from this city. It's a great tragedy, 2,000 men and women who have volunteered to go overseas and protect the freedoms that have been fought for and won at such a terrible cost over the last 235 years.
"Mrs. Sheehan has a right to protest and whatever she is -- that's a different issue. The war itself is clearly something that all of us, tragically, have an interest in."
In response to a follow-up about withdrawing troops, he continued:
"I think that we have to make sure that while we may have gone into this war based on what turned out to be faulty intelligence, 2,000 of our young men and women have paid a terrible price. I want to make sure the soldiers over there get the kind of support that they need so that we can bring them home safely and then we've got to find a way to make sure that the sacrifices that we have made to date haven't been in vain.
"I think everybody would love to get our troops home as quickly as is practicable. But I think I go along with our Senators who said we're asking our young men and women to live in a very -- perform a great service, a great sacrifice for us, and to support them while they are there."

For those of you who say that there is no difference between Ferrer and Bloomberg there it is. A clear statement versus something that is mixed up and needing a lawyer and an english teacher to understand. Remember there is an election in just 13 days and one of these people deserves Democrats votes and other well....
This is for those Democrats who have forgotten this. NY Democrats supporting Bloomberg should be ashamed:
He may do some things that makes him look liberal but these are strictly for political gain and would be no more than what Ferrer would do as Mayor and in fact are way less.
This website points out all of Mike Bloomberg's hidden problems and why we need to replace him as Mayor on November 8th.
If like Howard Dean, John Kerry, John Edwards, and Tom Daschle you can believe the fact that we have a Republican Mayor of NYC that funds the state and national Republican Party and that this hurts the state and national Democratic Party and that the person who supported Bush should not get re-elected please visit www.ferrer2005.com and give Freddy Ferrer whatever financial help you can.
